SPI Global Play celebrates 50 Year Anniversary with VIP event in London

Arriving in cable cars over the Thames River, Global Leisure Group partner SPI Global Play started its 50 year anniversary in style. With axe-throwing, crazy minigolf, singing project managers and over 300 people from entertainment venues around the globe, this was a fantastic night to remember.

‘I’m very proud of everything we accomplished over the past decennia and it is truly fantastic to celebrate this during the IAAPA Expo Europe show in London. It made perfect sense to celebrate our anniversary during this show, that is the largest exhibition in the entertainment Industry’, says Mikael Wettergren, CEO of SPI Global Play.

With a two-level booth in the middle of the show floor, SPI Global Play could not be missed by the visitors of the exhibition. The booth included over ten different family entertainment concepts, ranging from themed Laser Zone and Mini City, to new concepts like Tag Challenge and Interactive Play. Wettergren continues: ‘we have entertained people for over 50 years now, and we wanted to show we have much more to offer. The best way to do that was by showcasing multiple concepts during the IAAPA and by organizing a big party in a Boom Battle Bar – one of our newest concepts that is very popular in the UK.

On the second night of the show SPI Global Play invited its key customers and partners for the VIP event in the Boom Battle Bar. Over 300 people were present. After having a few drinks and some food from the buffet, the party really started and both partners, suppliers and customers challenged each other by playing minigolf, interactive darts or doing karaoke. ‘I was very excited to see everything worked out so well. People had a lot of fun, there were good chats with both customers and partners and the atmosphere was really good’, says Alina Klavina, who organized the event. ‘With the party we wanted to thank our customers for their trust in SPI Global Play and to start the coming year with positive energy. I believe that definitely worked out’.

In 2012 SPI Global Play became part of the Global Leisure Group and the group grew ever since. With its most recent acquisitions in 2021 and 2022 – acquiring Sidijk, HPS Play Company, Playlife, and Themeworks – the ambitions and future goals are set and clear. Becoming the worldwide market leader within the Play & Leisure segment. Wettergren concludes: ‘With all the experience, production facilities and knowledge we have withing the Global Leisure Group, we are able to offer complete leisure solutions that are innovative and of the highest quality.’

Directly after the show, Wettergren got great responses and various inquiries for both playgrounds as Family Entertainment Centers. To be continued!
